This exhibition traces the literary career of  Cervantes (1547–1616) through his oeuvre, from his first work, La Galatea (1585), a pastoral novel, to the last one, Los trabajos de Persiles y Sigismunda, a byzantine tale that was published posthumously in 1617.

This exhibition paints with words and literary creations a historical portrait of Cervantes, guided by the literary characters who populate and give life to his works. Galatea, Persiles and Sigismunda, don Quixote, Sancho Panza, Dorotea, The Knight of the White Moon, The Duke and Duchess, Clavileño, The Licentiate Vidriera (Doctor Glass-Case), Rinconete and Cortadillo, Preciosa, Cipión and Berganza, doña Lorenzana, Chanfalla, Catalina de Oviedo and Pedro de Urdemalas. Ilustrated by Pedro Moreno, they are an invitation to read the books they feature.

A total of sixteen characters commemorate the fourth centenary in 2016 of Cervantes’s death in 1616. This gallery of characters also takes a look at the novelist as a man and writer, talking about himself or his works.
